Acne Scars Before And After Pictures

Acne is a frustrating skin state that commonly occurs among teenagers and adults irrespective of gender, race and ethnicity. The technical name for this state is acne vulgaris as it frequently strikes in visible parts of the body. Acne is long term problem that has been troubling people for centuries. The severity of acne is realized when the person faces the problem of a “scar”. A scar or also called as a blemish is a condition on the skin that causes points with redness inducing irritation for the person. Before showcasing about the properties of the scar, there is a topic of discussion to be noticed.

Acne can also cause what is called as a spot, where it typically appears to be scar for the time it occurs but it does not leave a permanent mark. So a person need not worry when it is a spot as it disappears in time, but due to their temporary presence they can cause irritation and embarrassment. The exact term used to indicate a spot is called as a “macule”, also known as “pseudo scars” are reddish spots on the skin. After the swollen acne flattens the macule leaves a temporary mark for up to 6 months and then it leaves no traces of the spot. Unlike a spot a scar is totally different from it. There are various types of scars formed on the layer of the person’s skin depending on the intensity of the acne. Types of scars are formed due to tissue formation, damage of tissue, loss of tissue, itching of the upper skin and so on. So as a result, ultimately the upper dermis is affected and it also leads to discoloration of the skin. Therefore scars are the obvious results of tissue injury and needs tissue repair by any means.

Acne Scars Types

Acne scars are mainly categorized into two main types, they are ice-prick scars and keloids or hypertrophic scars. These occur due to severe damage of the skin mainly due to blocked bacteria and also due to over production of collagen. So these excessive amounts of collagen piles up and lead to the formation of fibrous masses and thus forms the so-called an irregularly shaped scar. If the skin faces a tissue injury due to a scar the body gets ready to repair the damage, where it releases our inbuilt soldiers, the white blood cells along with some inflammatory molecules which fight against infection and repairs them to some extent. The repair done by our white blood cells are not up to 100%, so they leave rather a cluttered site with some fibrous tissues or also called as eroded tissue behind. The concentration of the scar it leaves may vary from one person to another depending upon how far the person is prone to the infection. Though scars leave a permanent mark, it does not mean that they cannot be treated. For some people they may disappear by time and for some remodeling of skin has to be done through medication.
